Independent Estimating - Shortland to Sandgate
Construction of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass from Shortland to Sandgate was initially commenced and partially completed under a competitive tender construction contract. The contractor subsequently suffered financial difficulties and was unable to complete the project.
The completion of the project was awarded to an Alliance to develop a cost estimate for the work to be used as a basis for the Target Outturn Cost (TOC). Their estimate was based on the original design plans and specifications, and an in-field assessment of the partially completed project.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) engaged MIEngineers as Independent Estimator for construction of the project in order to provide an informed, unbiased view of the cost estimates prepared by the Alliance, and also to challenge and validate assumptions, logic and the cost basis used by Alliance personnel in the development of their cost estimates.
