Majura Parkway

Canberra, ACT
Total Project Value:

The Majura Parkway project involved the design and construction of 11kms of dual carriageway to act as a link between the Monaro and Federal Highways (from the north to south of Canberra). The project also included a number of structures, retaining walls and culvert underpasses.

The outcomes of the project would:

  • Relieve traffic congestion and provide better access to the Majura Valley;
  • Enable better movement of traffic from the north to the south-side of Canberra;
  • Provide other benefits such as improved fuel consumption and reduced greenhouse gases.

Our client commissioned MIEngineers to undertake a Final Sketch Plan (FSP) Estimate for the proposed Majura Parkway. The FSP Design Stage cost estimate produced consisted of a base estimate with provision for risk (contingencies) and escalation, estimates, DR (Document Readiness), estimation of 100% design, bridge option estimates and writing of tender documents.

MIEngineers was also engaged to provide risk expertise including the development of a risk register for the client, facilitate a Risk Workshop, quantify the risks and undertake an analysis using @RISK software.

MIEngineers’ appointment on the project was due to our extensive experience in undertaking estimates and contract documentation in accordance with NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) standards.
