WestConnex Enabling Works - Airport East Precinct

Sydney, NSW

The Project

The Airport East Precinct project comprises the upgrade of roads east of the airport and removal of the General Holmes Drive rail level crossing. This intends to improve traffic flow and access to the airport, Port Botany and WestConnex motorway. The works include the construction of a new rail overbridge under the existing Port Botany rail line between General Holmes Dr and Wentworth Ave, widening of General Holmes Drive and reconstruction of the Botany Road/Wentworth Drive intersection.

The project is severely constrained by major utilities infrastructure, live rail and road traffic, as well as limited headroom due to proximity to the aircraft landing surface of the Sydney Airport east-west runway.
