Amy-Ruth MacDonald and Jennie Keogh Johnston celebrate International Women's Day

On Friday, 6 March, Amy-Ruth MacDonald, CEO and Jennie Keogh-Johnston, Cost Engineering Group Manager, joined colleagues from a range of different disciplines at Consult Australia’s 2020 International Women’s Day breakfast held at Luna Park.

The theme of this year’s event was “finding balance and success as a female in a male dominated workplace”.

Attendees heard from Kate Munari, a Royal Australian Navy Helicopter Pilot who served three tours in Afghanistan, finding herself as the only female amongst 150 aircrew at the Commando Helicopter Force. Despite the challenges that Kate experienced, she succeeded in leading large teams within the Defence Force, often in some of the most volatile conditions.

Kate’s outstanding achievements in the Navy have been recognised, with Kate being awarded the Afghanistan Campaign Medal by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, and in 2014, she was the focus of ABC’s Lateline episode on the role of Women in the Australian Defence Force.
