LEADERSHIP CHANGE AT MIENGINEERS

Appointment of new CEO Amy-Ruth MacDonald

MIEngineers is proud to announce the appointment of Amy-Ruth MacDonald as its new CEO. She is taking over from Rob MacDonald who is retiring from the role after 32 years. Rob will maintain a strong interest in the company as chairman of the company board.

This is a significant and strategic move for the family-owned and managed company. Established in 1985, it has expanded to provide services to major projects in Australia, UK and New Zealand from its offices in Australia and the United Kingdom.

As the company embarks on a significant growth journey both in Australia and the UK, Amy-Ruth is considered the ideal executive to take on the top job.

“With an emphasis on partnering and customer relationships, Amy-Ruth has the business experience and expertise required to take on the business at this critical growth point,” Rob MacDonald said. “She has proven her capabilities during 17 years in the business, in particular establishing and growing our office in Manchester in the UK, and I’m confident that she has the drive and the experience for this challenging role.”

Amy-Ruth will move from her current role as Strategic Relationship Manager to lead the highly successful business, which currently employs over 40 highly qualified and experienced engineers, technicians and support staff.

An independent, family-owned consulting engineering firm, MIEngineers delivers quality end-to-end services from design, estimating, scheduling, risk, and contracts through to training.

The appointment of a female CEO highlights the progressive attitude and inclusive culture which defines and differentiates MIEngineers. Amy-Ruth MacDonald said, “I’ve spent my entire working life in this industry, gained experience, acquired the necessary skills, worked my way through the companies and feel it is the next stage and natural progression for my career. I feel very privileged to take over as CEO of our family business. In today’s era of company consolidation and M&A culture, we are very proud to be a successful and innovative family company.”

Amy-Ruth intends to be actively involved in industry associations and educational bodies to promote the sector as a positive and rewarding career choice for women.

With this inspiring attitude, along with a dynamic team and pragmatic approach, MIEngineers has become a partner of choice and trusted adviser to major infrastructure authorities across Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

Amy-Ruth MacDonald will take on the role of CEO of MIEngineers from the 1st of November, 2017. She will be based at the company’s Sydney head office with regular visits to oversee the global operations and liaise with European clients.
